Bart ten Have
In Zieuwert, eastern part of the Netherlands, Bart ten Have runs a mixed dairy cattle - sow farm in partnership with his parents. Bart has been using Lianol® Ferti for the first parity sows for some time now. His conclusion?! “Thanks to Lianol® Ferti, I use my farrowing pens in the most optimal way possible and my sows are just more profitable. It really makes a big difference."
The farm has German Hypor sows with an excellent health status. Two years ago, the sow population doubled to 500 animals. With such a young sow population, Bart produces healthy, high-quality piglets.
15.5 piglets are currently being born per litter, of which 14.6 alive. The feed mill representative advised him to use Lianol® Colostro for the smallest piglets. He weans almost 13 piglets per sow with a healthy weaning weight. A good overall result but Bart was convinced his sows could perform even better. After consulting Ardol, Lianol Ferti was introduced.
Weaning young sows? Chances are they will struggle to come into heat or their next litters will be smaller. The number of first parity sows on the farm is relatively high due to the young population. Other promises asides, Lianol® Ferti pledged to have an impact on the weaning to service interval. One of the main reasons Bart started to use Lianol® Ferti.
All his first parity sows receive Lianol® Ferti from three days pre- till two days post-weaning. Bart is enthusiastic: “Since I use this, my first parity sows come into heat immediately. Previously, the returns to service rate of the first parity sows was well over 50%. Now I can move the complete breeding groups over to the gestation stable. In addition to a better litters per year index, I achieve enormous labor savings in my breeding stable.”
